Kapé Update: Our webshop is open to serve you + NEW COFFEES this weekend

Dear Friends,

We hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy.

These are indeed challenging times, but we are hopeful for good changes to come in the horizon.

This week, we have decided to not have Kapé at Farmers Markets. This was a decision we had to carefully consider, and we thought it best for our community and for ourselves to stay indoors and focus on being healthy.

We are sad to not be able to brew coffee for you this Sunday and the coming weeks, but we want to continue serving our partner farmers, and to keep serving you.

We are pleased to say that our webshop is open. We continue our commitment to support coffee growers back home, and help in their livelihood especially in these trying times.

Orders within Vancouver will be delivered by Shift Bike Delivery. Orders for other parts of Canada and the US will be delivered by post.

News from the homeland

Currently, Luzon is on lockdown and there are limits on how people and goods can travel. This directly affects Manang Mina and her family. In December, we were in her farm and had the pleasure of helping out in their harvest. More coffee from her farm is scheduled to be shipped, but the community quarantine and lack of public transportation will definitely impact how her coffee gets here.

We are glad to report though that we were able to bring in her first harvest, and this is what we will be launching on our shop this weekend.

In Davao del Sur, Ate Marivic Dubria, president of their coffee growers’ co-operative and leader extraordinaire, has updated us that the coffee they will be able to proceed with a scheduled shipment. This is welcome news.

We will also be launching coffee from Ate Maria Luz, Auntie Florencia’s daughter and Marketing Manager of their coffee co-op.

We are here for you

Despite the uncertainty, we choose to be strong and move forward, and continue to be true to our mission to help promote Indigenous coffee growers from our homeland.

Stay tuned for our official announcement this weekend — meanwhile, we hope you take a moment to enjoy the sunshine and some fresh air as we celebrate the first day of spring.

We are in this together.

With hope & gratitude,

Iona & Paolo
